I understand why Fiona (the owner) is loved by everyone we met on the island. She’s amazing. · The location, the birdlife and the owner were wonderful plus it’s an easy stroll to Tryphena for food, drinks and the beach.

Would come again as very central. Within walking distance of beach and club etc. · A very comfortable stay and so handy to Tryphena Wharf and other things we were interested in. Fiona was very informative and told us many interesting things about the Island and gave us great advice. Loved seeing the native birds around the Lodge feeding off Fiona’s fruit trees. · I didn’t want to leave!!!

Superb island experience, surrounded by endangered birds and rich native bush

Absolutely recommendable.
Great experience. Fantastic service and the staff (Fiona) was friendly and helpful, she even helped us to deal with an issue with SeaLink (avoid SeaLink, their lack of consistency and professionalism is a joke).

A truly fabulous experience
Fiona was a fantastic host. She welcomed us warmly and went out of her way to help us with any problems or questions we had during our time on the island. The room was exactly what we required and I will definitely be looking at staying here again in the future. Keep in mind, mobile phone reception comes and goes but a fantastic excuse for going off the grid for a bit 🙂

Ideal for our families when we stayed for 3 nights. Clean and attractive chalets in attractive grounds (saw kakas in the trees!). Fiona also really helped us get to and from the island when there appeared to be no tickets left! thankyou.

Great location – only a few minutes walk to the beach and amenities.very quiet and relaxing surroundings – we loved sitting out in the gardens soaking up the sun and watching all the birds. Very clean and tidy accommodation with everything we needed. Aotea lodge is the perfect place to stay if you want to relax and unwind. Thank you fiona for your hospitality and for a most memorable stay on great barrier – your local knowledge with tips and advice on what to do and see was invaluable. We will definitely be back – only next time we will stay for longer.
